Nope, I don't "own" an EDI system. I entered into a contract at a cost of $50.00 with a company that provides EDI billing service. They sent me the software to load on my end that allows me to transmit invoices through them and I am billed $0.75 each for doing so. they are very efficient and I get paid in a timely manner.

Brian...I don't fit either category that you say I should! Call me an outlaw! lol

Very late reply to glass tek regarding Safelite parent ID's w/o being a member of the network:

Originally I signed up w/ ACT & received my parent ID# through them. Sure enough, when I tried to submit an invoice through GlassComp, it bounced. I called Safelite, told them I would no longer be using ACT, and received a new parent ID on the spot. Since I haven't been in business for a full year yet, I can't sign up w/ Safelite. I intend to do so in August.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm just now looking into this.

Cracked-up, are you referring to Direct EDI? (directedi.com) I did a Google search and that is the only company I could find that matches your description. I emailed them for info, but haven't received anything yet.

Thanks for your help!

So, Cracked-up How can I get this software? What is it called? I've tried Direct billing and have found for the most part insurance companies won't pay direct. Even trying to sign up with services like lynx is a complete hassle. What's a poor glassman to do? Can anyone help? lol

DirectEDI.com is for retail EDI like Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

Windshield Repair/Replacement EDI Software:

http://www.gtsservices.com

There are probably others, so if someone uses something else, feel free to post!

I haven't started yet, but trying to gather my sheep. When you're in the field doing a repair, how do you fax an invoice? Do you just take down the ins info from the customer, then fax the invoice later? Do you still have to call the ins company for authorization for the repair? It seems to be a good deal to get the software for $50 and pay .75 per invoice rather than $15 per invoice through ACT. If I do EDI billing, do I need to join the Safelite and Lynx networks? A lot of questions, but I'd like to avoid losing money when I start.
Thanks for all the great info on this site. It's truly fantastic.
