Highly recommend Flint. Camera on phone captures numbers on card in app. No need for a plug in device.
No higher rate for manually imputed card info. Rates lower than Square and most banks (even cheaper than my credit union card swipe) . Usually same day deposit or within 48hrs max.
Flint now accepts Discover and Am Ex.

We use Paypal Here. It's a small lightweight terminal that connects to your smart phone via Bluetooth. We have been using it for about a year now and it works well for us. Service 8® was one of the first to get one in Australia as we have been using Paypal for many years so they nominated us and others as Guinea Pigs when it was in the beta phase of development. As a reward we got the terminal for free, It's usually $130 AUS.

The good.
Free to open an account
No big clunky bank style terminal to carry around
No bank anual fee.
No lock in contract.
Free Software App.
They can use their Paypal account too to pay if they have one.
Trusted payment system worldwide.

The bad
Quite high transaction fee 2.7% or less depending how much volume you use.
Terminal not great quality, but is pretty reliable. However you can punch in the CC number directly into the app if it fails

The ugly
3.5% charge if you want to punch in the CC number over the phone. But then we are only talking a couple of dollars on an average stone chip price, so it's no big deal.

At Service 8® we pass on all credit card charges, so it's $2.70 for every $100 people spend. Many businesses do these days and the public have come to accept it. If you want credit then it comes at a cost, after all we are not offering banking services, just windscreen repairs. Don't like it? You can pay cash...

Not sure if it's available in the US but I would be surprised if it was not.

I use PayPal because they also will except checks and a lot of people are familiar and trust PayPal. The only disadvantage is you have to transfer the money from your PayPal account to your checking account. It may be only one more simple step but I have been very pleased with it.
Thanks,

They charge less then Square, and pay in a few days like Square.
I believe they are owned by "5th 3rd Bank"

I accept card payment through Worldpay, I have not looked into a mobile system although they do offer one. For preferrencial rates you should join the FSB, great for free banking with the Co-Op as well.
