Glass Tek,
Do you still not have a contract with Safelite? Good job for proving them wrong. Do you still bill the insurance companies in their network?

Re: Safelite
You can still bill through Safelite, you're just not on their preferred list. I have a shop # with safelite and I get faxed updates from insurance companies with them on price changes.
Re: Safelite
Safelite stinks big time. I can fore see the day when I may be just charging cash and telling the customer to get reimbused by their agent. We could make a list of how many ways they try to weasel out of paying for a job. First off... giving you the referral number minus 1 digit to see if you are paying attention. Anyone else here get that trick done to them? I could name more but my fingers are sore. I burned them bad with my spot heater, dumb yes I know!
Re: Safelite
repare-brise you have just described the situation here with Safelite. The company handling the claims is also by far the largest replacement company in the U.S.. Same conflict of interest, same lack of referrals we feel your pain.
enkogneto, yes you can still bill the insurance companies without being a member of the network. I cancelled my contract with Safelite two years ago because they caught me wrong on a day I was already fed up with them. I am still a memer of the Lynx and Harmon Networks. In fact you can charge theisurance companies more if you are not a member of the network as you have no agreed to price with them. Anyone who does a lot of insurance work should stick with the networks. Makes things a little easier, and doesn't anger the local agents.

Also I still have a shop number with safelite and the few times I've needed to go through them to make the customer feel comfortable they show me as an approved shop.

Re: Safelite
Pirated a job. I set up the appointment with them on the phone(guy my wife worked with). When I get there to do the job they unannounced are already in the process of repairing the windshield. When I got home that day I got a letter from Tom Reid saying that I was 90 days overdue in sending them my updated liability insurance info(something they had never asked me for in 3 years of being on their network) and I had 7 days to submit it or they would cancel me. On an ordinary day no big deal, I have my insurance. I think I lost a few thousand brain cells when I opened that letter. Not the first job that was pirated, there had been two before that. When I called on the previous jobs they were all apologies, Honest mistake and all that.
Re: Safelite
hello gents (and ladies if your reading.) i am brand new and learning everytime i open the forum. all of your insites and words of wisdom are sinking in slowly but surely. i do have a question... lynx denied me of the network because i am a new business, do i send the signed job invoices to the clients ins agent or to lynx services? and if you are not part of the network, do i call the jobs in to lynx or the agent?
