Of course they are more profitable, wasn't trying to say they weren't. As an uninformed consumer it sounds fishy that the insurance company would pay for anything without there being some retribution. This is another case where you need to educate your customer. Everyone knows the insurance companies are only looking out for themselves. That's why people balk at this when first approached.

I've begun telling customers that the ins rep on the phone can't answer their question. If the customer is unsure whether to go with ins or cash I mention that they can always give the receipt to their agent.

It's always fun to hear the csr stutter when the customer asks if the work for ____________ insurance company or Safelite. This also helps to get the customer to have confidence you know what you are talking about.

Blind Squirrel,

That pitch looks familiar! ;)

How's it working for you? Do you find most people pay, or choose to bill insurance using your method?

Gary your statements certainly did not ruffle any feathers here, in fact I think that the method that you use for sales is so good that every newbie should print it out and rehearse it. It is basically the same routine used by the Coitster, but better, because you made it to fit yourself.

I had the privilage of meeting David Coit, aka Coitster in Austin at a Deltakits training seminar. I expected to meet a polished, slick talking, back slapping, sales closer. What I found was quite the opposite..... a laid back, honest, knowledgable, and trustworthy regular guy.

I think Coitsters success comes because he is a "matter of fact" type of guy. When he gives his presentation, he just lays it out there and lets the customer make an informed choice. He's not trying to pressure you or sell you anything you don't want or need.

So my advice to newbie cold callers is to take Blind Squirrels sales pitch or Coitsters pitch and modify it to make it your own, as Gary said, if it doesn't feel good for you...... It won't work.

Excellent post Blind Squirrel........Bob
