Safelite Auditing

Post by ARG »

Those of you submitting insurance work through Safelite, be aware. Safelite has begun auditing paperwork. We have been on the system for years and with ACT over 2 1/2 years. Until Feb of this year, we have never been audited. Since then, first a Farmer's claim, now a Geico claim.

Yes, all t's were crossed and i's dotted.

I too have been hit in the last few weeks. Is this the new steering tactic from the fine folks at safelite? (Trying to make us shy away from their insured?) I's dotted and T's crossed here too!! Scott

Looks like some "underhanded" tactics being employed here. Besides being real slow in processing and paying, I tend to agree with the "steering" ploy. I am not afraid of being audited either.....I believe that I am a helluva lot more honest than they are.

I am not doing windshield repair yet,so,take what I am about to say with a grain of salt. (This may not apply to wsr, you decide). The business that I am in full time, at this time, relies upon referrals from maintenance management companies. If you get "audited", you receive a "tick" on your internal reference sheet. Whether the "audit" was justified or not or what the results were, are not listed. You can see what can happen if you get too many "audits". I am constantly fighting for justification because of these "audits". (I think I p_ssed someone off). This is just one companies way of seeing who gets the recommendations for the jobs. Again, may not apply here but it sounds the same.

Quix, this is different. All ins co's. can audit to find if you are processing your paperwork properly. So far Safelite is the only company who has excersized the option to do so.
(I have only done business in the Ins. arena for 20 months
so I may not be the best judge). I have experienced their steering tactics and after they made attempt's to steal away my hard earned work I find it difficult to have any trust for the fine folks at Safelite as they don't appear to want to be fair to me!!!!! I have worked hard and earned my place as a WSR provider and they tell their insured things like "that shop is not on our preferred provider list", or "they will send out their tech in a day or so" this is while I am attempting to qualify the coverage of my prospect. The play dirty and need to be held accountable for it. We can only hope that the continued litigation they face will in time cause them to have a change of heart!! I personally have saved them a ton of $ on replacements and they see me as a problem, what a joke, especally when you find the tech they send out is not very well trained!! You see they get paid for the repair and if it fails they will replace the glass too!! Talk about corner on the MKT, what a bad deeal for the folks who do see an increase in their rates from buying Ins, glass, and repair from the same outfit!!! Just My Opinion!! Scott

Does the "steering Problem" go on whether you have joined/qualified for their program?

Yes, at times, we are vigilant when prepping customers as to what to expect when processing a chip claim. The customer usually just smiles when the steering effort begins!! Usually after we have the customer tell them who is doing the repair the claims person will acknowledge that they have our contact information and the customer is reassured by their having our shop's phone #'s and so on!! We really win when our customer see's the completed repair. If they were concerned it all goes away when the end result is good!! Scott

Safelite charges 7.50 if you send in a paper invoice, so tell them if they want a copy of an invoice (which you "own") for them to audit, tell them to mail you 7.50 and then you'll fax or mail it to them.
