Re: sales letters?
In most states Insurance companies are not allowed to give any referals and after 20 years + in auto sales I can tell you not one sales mgr will pay any attention to your letter. with the car guys show up introduce yourself and keep stopping by on a regular basis(walk the lot with a clipboard take note of what cars need repair and when you go in mention them and give a price for you to fix the RIGHT NOW! some sales mgrs will give you a chance if you are there and can do it now. The insurance guys can not send you buisness by law so spend your efforts in another area. IE introduce yourself to the service writers in every dealership, Introduce youself to the local rental car guys etc. This isnt a buisness where form letters do much good its a hands on service buisness.

A free demo at a dealer will outsell any letter, find there worst chip and do your best repair on it, works every time.

I agree with the exception of business cards, printed materials are a waste of time.
Do yourself a big favor, have a professional looking business card, use both the back and front sides. Two or multi color is a plus and make the card useful. Example: If you work with car dealers, put the VIN codes for model years on the back.

Great suggestion, do you have said list? My cards cost me $400 for 2500 and are worth every penny. The company that makes my cards http://www.graphicartes.com/en/index.html makes the best in our region. The cards have a few little differences that make them worth the price of admission. The most important is that they are credit card sized, that way they fit in a wallet, and customers keep them.
Merci
Ps to see my card go to above link in the box marked client access insert the number 3739 and press enter, it should take you to my card. It looks even better in person that on screen(my screen at least).

Jeff,
Not to get down on you buddy but if you want to make money in WSR....you'll have to get out there and sale this service or you'll starve!!! Like Iyvan suggested, one of the best ways to get new accounts is simply to just go out and start offering some free demos. If your confident in your repair skills, the demo will sale itself 80% of the time, with a simple 5 minute presentation. You don't need to have a super sales backgound to succeed in repair but you will need to provide a quality service backed up with quality repairs to keep your accounts.
Sales Letters? Even if you were successful getting some replys from sending out sales letters guess what happens next? You'll still have to make a WSR presentation in person to land that account. They don't come to you! This biz isn't walk-in retail like some 7-Eleven store handing a slurpee over the counter. You have to go after it! Get over your fears, get off your butt and just get out and make it happen!!! Without making that first attemp, I'm not sure any of us can help you. We don't hold hands...we are simply here to offer a helping hand. The rest is up to you!
If I sounded too harsh in my repsonse it's only been towards your benifit, you needed a kick in the can;)
Wish you the best in WSR.

Re: sales letters?
LOL your right,, I have no problem going wherever when someone asks. I think my problem is I just don't like hearing NO. I mean when someone calls me about a repair I can sell it,, it will get done if it is repairable. I don't know about the tent idea since I hear some many bad things about the work done from tent people. I do good work and everyone is always happy with the repairs I do. I guess your right I just need to set down and make a list of potential businesses to hit and do it
I think I will send out letters first then make the HIT. Any other advertising ideas? I have medium size yellow page add but don't bring much just make me look more professional. Thanks for the help guys. I really do appreciate it.
thanks
