Why bother? did you get into this buisness because you wanted to be a telemarketer? talk about banging your head against the wall! sell your product to people you know need it and are standing right in front of you! I have switched to almost 90% cold call I have a few commercial accounts left from when I started but have let most slide away. I leave the house at 10 or 11 drive to an area with some commercial buildings. (everything is at least 1/2 hr from me sometimes an hour) I am cruising the lots by noon I usually call it a day after 5 customers havnt worked past 3:30 in 6 weeks 18-20 hr work week =$1000-$1500 a week if you do it right
No I havnt tried telemarketing also havnt hired a Blimp or paid a fat guy to hold a sandwich sign at the roadside.
KISS= Keep It Simple Stupid! this is the easiest thing in the world why try to make it harder with Telemarketing? Use a proven method make lots of money spend it go home or to the dollar store whatever relieves the stress
If you cant sell learn how! fly out to San Jose pay the Coit man a couple hundred bucks and he will show you how heck come out here and ride around with me a couple days (Coit lives 30 miles from Bikini wonderland and our girls have mustaches but your welcome to come here if you want :^) )

I think you need to look elsewhere, I have seen some very beutifull women in Vermont. If you still can't find any cross the border on the northern side, here in Quebec we have some beuties, and some that will personally entertain you for $5 for the duration of a song. Also Vermont in the spring is magnificent

As for telemarketing I Echo GlasStarz on that one, why work harder when you can work smarter. You find a broken WS, find the owner and the sale is 80% in the bank. It,s not such a strech to sell a service to someone who needs it. Have some self confidence, trust and know your product(if you lack on the last 2 take training), and if all else fails explain the dangers of a broken WS, the dangers of a repalcement WS, and the benifits of Ws repair, if the customer refuses, then you have the wrong car.

When I first got started in the glass business I ran telemarketing rooms for Glass Companies. I helped start 14 seperate telemarketing rooms for 3 different glass companies (one of them my own). Telemarketing can work great as long as you do it right. Good luck in your endevor.

In responce to GlassStars I couldn't disagree with you more. I have fantastic responce to cold calling, I am great at going B to B but I even get better results from doing telemarketing.... I do only telemarketing to business. I still like going out myself because when you cold call your calls can be all over the place. In about the comment did you get in business to be a telemarketer.... Nope, you got in business to make money, and however is the best way to do that is the way you do it. Just because people like to pick on telemarketers because thats the politicaly correct thing to do doesn't mean it doesn't work. It can work great.

How do you work your telemarketing? What times do you call? What's your "line"? I still prefer face to face than reciver to reciever, but to each his own, and I am always wanting to learn new tricks. As for picking on telemarketers, yes it is PC, so much so that our federal governament is looking at ways to make it illegal(they have managed to eliminate computer calling telemarketin). I did some telemarketing in the early 90's, and I can say that it is not easy work. So once again please share if you will your secrets to sucess.

David,
I'm thinking of trying telemarketing too. Could you share some of the presentations you've used that have been effective? :eusa_thin

Well I am not going to share to much on this because this is something that will be in my manual but I will say this. I do not call residential (avoid it like the plague). I only call on business, preferably business that I know are going to have a few vehicles. You must be friendly with the person who answers the phone and not sound like a salesman. Also when you are doing Telemarketing, don't expect to close the deal on the first call. Most of the time the first call is to establish who you are going to call back and talk to... so get a contact management program and work on a sales letter. You will have a lot more success then just calling to see who bites (few do at the first time).

Coitster,

Telemarketing with repair? No thank you! If I wanted to be in the telemarketing biz......I could do it in many other areas which would provide much higher gains.

I'll just stick with meeting people face to face and work with that.

The last I heard Telemarketing is illegal because of the DO Not Call list,, Its a Federal law, was passed a few years ago. There are some exceptions but you have to know what they are...

A direct sell is the best, face to face then face to glass..
