Can anyone shed some light on an "acoustic windshield"? I've got a customer with a 2006 Acura MDX. It has was is called an acoustic windshield. Has anyone repaired one of these before? Is this anything different, repair wise, than a regular windshield?
I've got the repair scheduled for tomorrow, but will cancel if anyone here has any info or experience that says this type of windshield can not be repaired as a regular windshield would.
Thanks,
JAC

Re: Acoustic Windshield
JAC,
Acoustic windshields simply have noise reduction properties in the laminate layer, and are therefore unaffected by windshield repair.
At least as described by this manufacturer: (http://www.solutiaautomotive.com/en/lgi/noise.aspx) there should be no problem. Worse case scenario with damaged laminate would be more wind noise in the chip location.
Haven't talked to the manufacturer, so at this point that's an educated guess.
