Question about umbrellas

Do any of you use a typical rain umbrella to do repairs outside? If so,do they work to keep the UV rays off until you cure. I've never used one. I use a wool blanket, but an umbrella might be more convenient to use. Thanks.

An umbrella would not keep off UV. If in doubt put a small amount of pit fill anywhere on the screen place curing film over and wait a minute, you will most likely see that it is cured.

If there is rain but not any wind, a regular blue plastic tarp works well... it blocks the UV but gives plenty of light to work with... I have tried magnets to hold the tarp, buy if it is windy... nope, just not worth the wrestling match with the tarp:eusa_snoo

Umbrellas are great for keeping the sun off yourself, but become a nuisance when it is windy. I have a suction based one and occasionally use it. A nice navy blue towel works best for blocking UV as it does not blow off easily in the wind. An stationary rubber band can be used to hold it to the bridge.
Overcast days can be very deceiving and resin very quickly starts curing in "shaded" areas due to UV reflection - remember how you burned on the beach on such days!
