hey all. this is my first post here. i have been tossing around the idea of starting my own windshield repair forum and stumbled across this one. i may possible still start one so i can offer tech support and products to my customers more freely.

i do windshield repair in the d.c. area. i go from st marys county all the way through waldorf md to laurel md just north of dc. i've been doing windshield repair and interior repairs since 2002 in michigan but for myself here since feb 2003. about two years ago i bought out a company called glass one, and started selling their injectors, and now i have them manufactured myself! it's a nice simple threaded unit. also i started distributing for poly-lite resins. i won't go into much more detail as this is not my forums and i don't want to offend the mods.

i just wanted to give a little info as to who i am. my main income is the dealerships in this area, and my play money comes from ebay sales under the id of showroomcondition2004 (also my yahoo mail account).

i look forward to learning more on these forums, as i already am now exploring working on a wet day and doing a repair without drilling. but i'll get into them in another thread. thats me in a nutshell.

I dont think you are stepping on any toes. I believe we are allowed to discuss different companies resins and supplies.
If you offer free samples, tell us how to get them? I believe many members are always willing to try different resins.

While open discussion of products is welcome here, promoting and/or selling products is not. Some Delta Kits competitors follow the forum rules and offer valuable input for other members, and others just can't resist promoting their products. If you are in the first group we will get along just fine, but if you are in the second group you will not be allowed to participate.

I bought one of these injectors on EBAY about a year ago.It is an aluminum injector with two o-rings that attach's with suction cups.The o-ring that contacts the glass just rides in a groove at the bottom of the injector and will fall off every time you remove it.Although it has good pressure and seems to pull a good vacume it just was not good for me to use on a day to day basis.I got tired of chasing the o-rings and the adjustment/position of contact and glass pressure were lacking.Would be good for the ocasional hobby -tech but more of a hassel for anyone doing volume/quality work. Mine found its way back on EBAY.Not a bad thing for the price but more for a hobby tech ..... JMHO

I bought some of his resin.
Its sitting in my cupboard.
Delta Kits resin is way better.
Just my 2cents.

Im not real loyal to any resin but am quite happy with the Magnibond I use now. For several years I used the poly and found it to work well with no complaints

One area of concern, on his ebay listing while talking about long crack repair the technique seems to be:
1. let the injector fill the crack until resin flow stops,
2. cure
3. drill again starting where resin flow stopped
4. and repeat until the entire crack is filled.

I have never heard of this technique and seems that it would leave alot of ugly drill marks making the crack repair more visible.

i'm not big into long crack repair.
i just do the stuff the size of a quarter, and slightly bigger.
i've seen a good repair here and there in md not done by us, but from what our dealers tell us, and what most of the repairs i've seen, we are crushing the competition for good repairs at our local dealers.
(but who wouldn't say that?)

as far as injectors go, NOTHING beats a delta kits.
what do you guys think of glass technology?
i bought one of theirs before and wasn't crazy about the lock and load method. i wanted something simplier.
as far as my injectors go, they serve me well, but they're more of a good way to have four decent injectors in your toolbox at a good price. i don't run into any problems, until the repairs start getting bigger. then it starts taking longer but i usually have multiple repairs or some interiors to keep me busy while its setup.

enough about me, i think it's soo cool that i've found a place where other windshield techs come to talk. what are some of the things you guys learned when you first started on these forums?

glad you are here Jason, Delta has some of the best equipment bar none, I think if you trace your transactions you will find the Maxryde name there some where, again thanks for the input here.
