It's actually worth it to pay for advertising in Google. You can set your monthly budget, it can be as low as $10 a month. You get charged per click-through(the times someone clicks on your ad). Your ad appears on the right had side of the screen, aill disappear once your budget is reached. You can set your coverage area where the ad will be seen. If your territory is in Eastern Texas you don't pay for someone clicking on your ad in Western Texas. I use Google ad-works for something else and it is very convenient.

I also use Google ad-works pay as they click, and yellow pages.com for a monthly fee. they both send me a report on hits.

I use google pay per click as well but even with a 10.00 daily budget and a 4.00 per click bid I still don't receive more than a few calls per day. Almost all of the search engines like google and yahoo offer free basic business listings as do yellow pages and super pages. In addition I also have a free listing on craigslist.com. Craigslist is pretty big here in the philadelphia region and I seem to get at least a few calls per month with them. Yahoo has a pay per click campaign that I will be using shortly in addition to my google account. It's difficult for me to end up in the top 3 as Safelite, Union Autoglass and others seem to be paying considerably more per click. 4 bucks a click already puts me at over 300 bucks a month. I'd be interested in learning more in regards to how to do better with google but I can't seem to find anything thats not written in techie, I'm not to savy with computers. Any help is always appreiciated.

As you already found out, each word has a price and " a request standing" in Google. Just keep playing with the words! I use it for my other business and it works "OK". Keep in mind that Google by itself won't drive a great deal of people to you, it's just another tool. I haven't looked a Yahoo's advertising in quite a while, but a while back they were very expensive and had a flat fee. The nice thing about Google is that you can decide your monthly advertising budget. The more populated(big companies) your area the more expensive it gets because of the word pricing structure. As a test, I had gone to $10 per click and still couldn't stay on the top listing. Now I pay around $0.35 per click and do OK, just keep playing with your key words.

$4.00 per click is pretty high. I am only about .35 per click also.. If you are not getting the hits at 4.00 I would drop back to see if the cheeper package would still work..
