I think a large city is nothing more than a lot of small towns in one area. I travel the entire state of Texas to do my work.( That's quite a large territory) I do almost all of my work from a Tent location and I have found if a town or location is large enough to have a Wal-Mart there is plenty of work to be done. Wal mart places stores in towns of14,000 and up and adds stores a needed. The trick is to market the area you have, treat your customers right and do good work at a fair price. When you travel as I do the amount of jobs that you get depends on the local economy at the time.

I don't care who you are or how good your work is, you are not going to get all the work. That depends on how you sell the job, the appearance of you and your equipment and the value you are to the customer.

I am semi retired and only work from noon till about 6pm. I do between 4and10 cars every day. Since I travel ,these are all new customers unless I return to that location.

So I have said all this to say population means there are more cars with chips and more competition. Just get out there and do your part.

What is the idea behind moving about so much? we in the UK shop weekly so basically the customers going into the shop change daily. Having said that I can see some benefit in visiting the same place 7 days on the run and then giving it say a 4 week break. Mind you, if you are enjoying what you do in your retirement then you have got things good.

I travel so much because I am retired. We have a travel trailer and this is the way pay our expenses. However I may stop at a location for 4 to 7 days depending on how the work is. Usually the 1st. day is slow then 3 good days and then starts slacking off. That's when we move to another place.

Texas is different than most places. We think nothing of driving 20 to 70 miles to shop or eat dinner. Also a rolling stone collects no moss.
