Your speech when cold calling?

Post by Auto Glass Rescue »

Hello, I was wanting to know what everyone's speech was and who do you ask for when giving your speech?

I was thinking something like this... "Hello, my name is ______ and I'm with _________. I know you must be busy, so I'll make this quick. I was inquiring if you had any vehicles in your inventory that had any windshield damage. (Wait for answer) If so, I would be able to provide you with a free windshield repair demo to show you my quality of work and the benefits of a windshield repair." Then I guess I would go from there...

How does this sound? Any suggestions or input to make the speech better?

Thanks!

I try to mke it seem like im only there to give them my flyer and business card, and to let them know who we are and what we are offering. That seems to put them at ease thinking im not there just to talk them into spending money. Then I turn the conversation to "business talk" and if they sound interested I see if they need any repairs at the moment. If they seem kinda stand offish then I thank them for their time and ask them to call if I can help them in the future. If I were to be a "pushy salesman" they may not want to use me later when they actually have windshield damage that was brought to their attention. Im not sayin it works every time but it works for me.

For a dealer, walk the lot before going inside to do your sales pitch. While on the lot you can spot the best case scenario repair, and offer them a repair on XYZ inventory number. If you ask them if they have any cars to repair the answer will almost always be NO, but if you tell them car XYZ needs a repair and to show them how good you are you are willing to do it for free, then you have a chance they will listen, look, and call back.

You really need to set yourself apart from the 15 other subs that have asked them for work this week. Before embarking on cold calling a few good books may be in order, a staple and one that should be required reading in schools, is Dale Carneghie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. Another good read is Purple Cow by Seth Godin.

It depends on the customer if its a fleet of trucks etc or a car lot I have walked the lot and tell them I have found so many chips and will fix them a flat price to earn my way in the door and I stress EARN. Just a cold call on a small buisness with a couple cars out fron its different hello who has the A_ out front I noticed a chip in the windshield im repairing a couple others in the area and can give them a good price if I can fix it while here pretty simple pitch wit a few variations depending on the situation. 8-)

Way to go Chiparoo, jump all over the guy and threaten to call the forum police on him. I'm sure he will be encouraged to post again. By the way, he's got 89 posts and you have 19, so you're the newbie here more than he is. Coitster has not posted much in a long time because of nasty little things like this, putting down, intimidating and trying to humiliate other posters. And he used to post all the time, nearly every day with multiple posts. If you can't say something helpful, then please don't say anything at all.

I hope auto glass rescue ignores Chiparoo's post and stays with us. Don't let em get you down.

So I guess I can put a little out about this since I cold call EVERY DAY. My recommendation is to first find the vehicles if you can. Then walk in and give them your card and tell them why you are here. Please, please, please don't be afraid to ask for business. Like a reporter onced asked the great Wayne Gretsky how he was the greatest hockey player of all time. His responce was "I know I will miss 100% of the shots I never make."

I can't stress this enough, you have to be agressive, please don't be timid, get out there and sell your service. Stop worrying about those who will call you back, not many do so don't worry about it. Sell now and do now. People just don't do it that much. I really don't know how to explain this any other way. Sell now, repair now, not later. If they are interested you will do the work. If you are worried about if they will call you back.....DON'T. Move on and dust yourself off.

This is a sales game plain and simple. Sell, sell, sell, you arn't going to get anywhere by giving them a card and hoping they call you back. I know I am beating a dead horse here but sometimes thats how it seams on the forum. How do you think some of these hack repairman that have no idea how to do a good repair get so much business. They ask everyone who comes across their paths and they are aggressive. I wish they would learn to repair well but most of them don't care because they can sell. So my biggest piece of advice is to learn how to sell once you learn how to repair then you will never be without work.

Most days that I go out and work I don't have a single job set up yet I come home with 6 or 7 jobs done cash in my pocket or a check in the bank. Plain and simple. Ok I will get off my soap box now.
