Is this windshield damage repairable?
Gents, can you have a look at these pictures and tell me if this damage is repairable, or would I be better off replacing the windshield? It is below the driver viewing area, is about 15 inches across, and also appears to run to the bottom of the windshield.

I would not repair that, it even looks from the picture as to be damaged on both pieces of glass, see the legs behind the white pit. I am not saying it is not fillable with resin, as it is, but I would not wast my time and effort whilst not wanting to give a warranty on the end product.

That type of repair is not recommend by NWRA or insurance industry. Too many legs and you have dead ends into the glass edges. Not worth time or money.

If the crack hits two edges then definitely a no go.

Is this something insurance would pay for through comprehensive? The wiper arm came down and smashed the glass due to owner's fault.

I'm sure the insurance would pay for a replacement less their deductible, but not sure they would on an attempted repair on this one. Repair would definitely not be acceptable to me, to the customer or insurance. It's a replacement situation!pmay805 wrote:Is this something insurance would pay for through comprehensive? The last fax I got from several of the insurances companies state they do not authorize repair of a crack beyond 6 inches. Replacement, yes if you have coverage.
