it just works out that he GIVES them the additional 10% off through my referal. He comes out even as any non ins. work i do for him i give him a discount rate, The bottom line is that one hand washes the other. it's easier to work together and create more business rather than to try and make 10 bucks for a referal . If you see some problem with my approach to doing business, feel free to let me know how i might improve this deal for myself and for the customer. (ooop's not to mention that he does not have to hire or train an installer to do repairs)

ruffburr,
If this works for you and your getting more business by working together I guess it's ok. However, I'd like to also mention since I handle both repair and replacements...I've always taken care of my glass replacement referral people very well. Anywhere from $25-$100. I personally think your just giving up to much to help out this guy. A good referral is worth some extra dollars in your pocket. Don't short change yourself! In order to ask for more from him you'll have to educate yourself better on what his profits might be on each glass replacement. Some referrals may only make him $75-$125 profit, while others might pull in up to $150-$250 or more. I understand with you not being in the replacement business, that info might be hard to acquire.....so guess what? I'd be willing to help you out for awhile....just PM me before your next referral.
Good luck R.B.

It seems to me that some of yopu might be able to earn more money doing refferals than actualy repairing.
To be honest I would be tempted which is why I let my customers decide themselves who to use and where to go, this way if the job does happen to go wrong which they sometimes do it is not down to me.
