I've bought two 10" black lights from spencer and taped them together. These come with either AA battery or 12v car operated. I've tested with fresh batteries and it did not cure well or took very long (10 min) to cure. Then I switched to the 12v car and hooked it up to my jump starter battery pack and it took 5 min to completely cure. BTW, I rigged the wires so that it'll use only one 12v wire. These bulbs end with letters "blb" and from what I read, these are not true black lights. But it sure cures well from the tests I've done. The ones that's recommended are bulbs ending in "bl".

Side by side from Delta's 12v UV light. The brightness is very comparable. Please don't try looking at the lights like I did. It'll really hurt your eyes. I'm capable of doing this because I think I built tolerence from staring at the computer screen for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week at work enduring the radiation that my dual monitors is outputting. :D

For $20 dollars for 2 of these lights, that's not bad. Hope this helps somebody to find a cheap (but effective) alternative.

Okay...do NOT stare at black light bulbs, especially the cheaper ones! Tons of damage can happen that way.

Also, 365nm light is not visible, so the visible light doesn't correlate at all to curing strength. Visible light won't cure, and the 365nm curing "light" is not visible. All bulb style uv lights give off a range of light, so what you are seeing is just the excess light in the visible range.

Again, please don't look directly at the light! :)

I have 2 eyes Jeff... if I look at the light with one eye I will still have the other left when the one fries and warps. That way I can truly experience what happens and ALSO have 1 good eye left :)
