"CHIPS", glad to help. :) By the way, if you're going after Federal accounts, I recently stumbled on some information that might be useful to you. The Small Business Administration has what they call the S.B.A. Hub program. If your primary office (home office O.K., I think) is located in, and at least 1 employee (even if that's YOU) resides in an "S.B.A. Hub Zone", you'll be given special consideration when applying for a government contract. Their website is: http://www.sba.gov/hubzone/ .
Jeff2, as for the typical rates for fleet accounts, I think (at the risk of being accused of price-fixing) if someone on this forum who HAPPENS to charge (the amt. you mentioned) to a retail customer were to look for fleet accounts, he or she might lower his or her price per repair by 35-40% on the fleets (depending on amount of competion--which in "CHIPS" case seems to be almost none! ). Greetings Jeff2,

$35.00 works well for us at car dealers. $40.00 for fleets. Try to stay away from the $25.00 price. Many have tried that price up here, and thankfully, have gone the way of the buffalo. (a.k.a. out of business)
Years ago we used to get $35 + $15 + $15. at car dealers. Much of that market today remains ruined from desperate, inexperienced, WSR techs.

hi, i have found it best to set your own lowest price for both fleets and ave deals this way you can learn to read the customer and always work a "deal". for example on fleets Lowest i will go is $20 per windshield, knowing that i start out by offering something differentlike 25,10,10 . "10 dollars for each additional chip up to three any more is free" from there if they dont bite then you can drop the price wether it be whole price our just a little. both can be effective example,20,10,10/20,5,5/25for entire shield"saves them $$$" :) 15,10,5,free many different optionsmakes the person in charge choose one of the options which ever he or she likes and they make the dicision and you have made your money by getting the account :} (in a perfect world!!)
now other than fleets ...a way different story you can start high and work your way down to your minimum. if ya get a yes right of the bat or somewere down the line youve made some $$$$$$$$$

It maybe a good idea not to take the extra chip prices to low as this can encourage operators to collect a few chips before calling you, you must sell the importance of immediate repair.

ChipMaster,

I'll always approach new fleet accounts at $35 flat rate. If they balk at that price, I'll then offer them a introductory flat rate of $30 for 3 months and allow them to evaluate my services with the understanding it will be increased to $35 if their satisfied. So far this has worked out well for me and have never lost any business to local competition offering less. (the $20/10/10 or-$25/5/5 that you mentioned)

Some may ask why charge a flat rate with fleet accounts when your losing money on the multiple hit charges? My answer is simple. Yes, for the first month of weekly maintenance service you'll be giving up some additional repairs "free" but once you have control of this fleet very seldom will you see multiple hits week after week. 95% of the time you only find single hits.

Just do the math!

In my opinion $20-$25 is to low;)

Hi All,

I need some clarification on billing. I am not currently on the SGC or LYNX networks. If I download the Data Tranz software, would I be capable of getting paid for insurance jobs?
