Was this a solar glass in other words a purple or pink effect glass. These have a chemical or whatever on the laminate and when exposed to air or moisture they can leave a mark in this which will still be very visible even when the airspace is filled. This does not look like the normal greyness we see on old breaks on standard laminate it is completely different and often shows up as grey or silver or white and can occur very often in the smallest of breaks.
