We do much more than just repair, we also do scratch removal(on residential and commercial glass as well), plastic restoration(headlights, convertable rear windows, emergency lights, and motorcycle/snowmobile WS's), and glass treatment(a polymer based concoction that helps in vision and snow/ice removal). The reason we are able to get contracts with insurance companies is in part due to the fact that we don't repalce, but instead repair only. Also replacement is too much like work, and everybody and his brother does it around here, whereas quality repairs are a specialty niche that is highly successfull and profitable.
Merci
PS since you do replacement it is natural that your insurance should be higher, more risk

Windshield Guy: I assume that you also replace windshields, if so do you also carry garage keepers for that price? If so, who do you carry insurance with?

I filled out quote form online for RLI for liability insurance. Some guy from Brilliance insurance called me today and said RLI refers out the policies. He quoted me $1800.00. I said can you do $200.00. He said that was not possible. The quote was for $500,000.00 liability and $30,000 garage keepers. So whats up with that?

They probably are not competitive on the garage keepers. The guys with the $200 policies don't include this coverage. It's liability only.
The best quote for garage keepers I have had was from AutoOwners Ins. It was around $450 per year. That I believe didn't include liability.
You can also check into a "commercial" insurance policy for your work vehicle... this will at least cover damage done while you are behind your own wheel. The garage keepers of course is for damage done to the car you are working on.

BPIZ,
as GD said, the RLI quote we are all talking about does NOT include garage keepers.
Also, in the past, RLI has required that you purchase the policy from your local insurance brokers (or whatever they're called), but now they sell the policy direct.

I just received my general liability from RLI for $178 a year. That was this month. I changed from State Farm who was charging me $552 a year.
