Re: Question on curing tape and tabs

Post by Delta Kits »

We definitely make all our money on curing tabs! :)

Anyway, to be clear, our tabs and tape are designed to not block ANY UV light. There are things out there that can work, like transparencies, etc., but just be careful, test different brands, etc. Many either block all (which is easy to tell), or partially block UV light. This means it may take longer to get a full cure.

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell from their packaging whether they block UV, and how much. Sandwich wrap for instance, many of them block partial uv simply because it helps with their primary usage, which is food.

So, if you simply must find solutions not provided by your manufacturer, test, test, test.

Let me clear a few things up here in regards to the negative feedback I have received in regards to Film Tabs. I am not advocating that a person purchase their tabs from any specific vendor, or that they should use anything other than what we know works well. My example of the sandwich bag was one I used in a very tight pinch. I do use proper material in regards to my repair work, and have for 19 years.

I am a bit taken back by anyone who would enter into a reply on this forum in such a negative and distructive manor. I am quite sure a question regarding tabs has no effect on Deltas business or their reputation on this forum they have provided for us to discuss the business as a whole. There are many who think their way is the only way, and many who know a bit about saving a dime. You feel free to toss all the nickles and dimes you wish Gr8Tech, I only made a simple statement about the cost on an item, and man....you lost it!! I am sorry to anyone I have offended with this statement regarding tabs, and I also appoligize to Delta that their Forum has seemingly gone this direction.

Okay, let's back it down a notch guys. Opinions are okay, but don't resort to back and forth attacks or "calling out" others.

Thanks :)

Consider being more supportive to others. The negative spin is not going to help anyone make it in this business. The comments about anyone using this forum and not purchasing thier tabs from Delta were very poor.

I wonder if the Delta Administrator has an opinion on this?

Hi all,
Apologies if this went the wrong way. My problem is not the cost, but the availabilty in my country and postage from the USA will most probably be prohibitive with respect to the cost of the item. But thanks for all the replies and Jeff has said it, test and test again! I have just today proved that the Delta pit resin cures very much faster than the locally available pit resin that I have been using and this is going on my order list as soon as I have used up my old resin.
Thanks for all the replies and opinions it realy helps a lot even if on an insignificant (cost wise) item such as curing tabs and tape!
Regards
