Sounds like someone is afraid of competition so you learned the long way on your own and somehow think you deserve a cookie for it.
Customer satisfaction and the ability to sell are the key to sucess. Ever cross the border from Mexico? they have dozens of guys standing in line selling the same items some guys make a killing and some stand there all day and sell diddly. Personally if all the guys in your area think like you do I cant wait to open a dozen locations there its ripe for the picking
The other option is you have had some new people move into your area and somehow dont think they deserve to make a living sounds like the guy who owned the only dept store in town didnt have to work very hard and could charge what ever they wanted but then Wallyworld opened up next door and instead of learning to compete he chose to sit and complain while not changing how he does buisness resulting in his demise is it Wallys fault he didnt change with the times? I think not
