Non-paying cash customer
Re: Non-paying cash customer
I agree with Jonny! Send her a bill... If she does not pay, send her a second one with large red letters: THIS BILL IS 30 DAYS OVERDUE! or something like that. Then mention the late fees, and then "referral" of the bill to the collection agency. Then mention the fact that it will hurt your credit score and all that stuff. Trust me, anyone will pay, if you know how to talk with these kind of people.
You have nothing to lose, so try it... It might work

Great response. Stupid cow .. yes put the bullseye right back in her windshield, I would do that too ..cause she asked for it. The filing a lien on the car should scare them a bit too .. It always amazes me how cheap some ppl can be ..like for less than $50 sometimes?! 50 bucks not $500! They wanna play dirty?... well you got it..right back at ya !

I just say its a refund.Ok Id explane that it is a good repair, and the advantages of repair over the replacement option. Also remind her of what was offered... THIS IS A REPAIR!. ID then mention that I will file a mechanical lean against the vehicle for a non payment ( I dont know if you can do that in the USA). At this point your never going to get a referal from her anyway, so personaly, Id have fun with it and just stress her out abit. I just wouldnt want her to walk away with that great feeling of knowing she just screwed you and got something for free.

Unbelievable!
Business must be really slow to have all this time to mess with Ms. Cheapskate. I would suggest that your time may be better spent on marketing your services to actual paying customers. Just a thought.

Well, I guess the answer is that this is not a common occurrence. As for some of the advice here, I could never re-damage somebody
Re: Non-paying cash customer
If this happened to me, I would send a Certified Letter stating that she has to pay me for my services by a certain date or else I will file a lawsuit in small claims court and she will be responsible for the court fees in addition to my fee.
I would also remind that a judgment in court allows me to levy her bank accounts and garnish her wages. This is true but a hassle in reality to do.
Now frankly, I would never waste time going to small claims court but would spend the time sending a couple of threatening letters before I let her slide on paying me for a service I performed.

I think you missed the point. Shes playing dirty - all it is ..is a mild threat.. but business is business and thats your time and labour spent .. and I am not gonna take that from anybody... I would explain thats my time spent here when I could have earnt it elsewhere and have been paid for it ..if its an honest job it should be honestly paid.. alternatively before you do any job .. whenever the customer mentions $$ (i.e. how much?) you should ask right off.. which method of payment would you like to make- cash or cheque? Make the agreement thereby creating that expectation of being paid.. verbal agreements are legally binding.. and remind them of that fact later on when they start laying the crap...also ensure they KNOW that the chip, crack may not be 100% gone..this isnt a charity and certainly not a hobby, its business.
It reminds me of when posted flyers and a guy claimed I'd chipped his car to make $$ out of him .. I said certainly lets go to the cops and check it out to see the age and type of chip.. I post flyers all the time and certainly will not make chips on your car all day.. he got it .. and out of there.. FAST.

Re: Non-paying cash customer
Well we had a similar incident with a State Farm customer. She was informed of 80-90% blah blah blah. We completed....she signed as being satified. Even said she was going on a trip to Colorado and that she might have to replace her w/s when she gets back due to service pits. (1st warning sign) Anyway we get a letter from SF demanding payment of $50 for this customer over 45 days ago. Spoke with a sup and guess what it is our contract that if they are not satisfied or if the repair fails then we must reimburse. Even if it is a few months past?? It is not worth chasing or arguing.......we just moved onto making more money. Although I did give her a call and advised that we notified SF of her fraudulant claim. (just messing with her) And that not to recontact us for any other services in the future......
