Mr Chip I have used the cars cigarette lighter but find the drystar easier to control. As for a normal lighter I tend to find the heat rises away from the screen and I cannot get as much heat as I like to into the damage.
Unless you heat from inside which I feel is not a good way to remove moisture, as you have to heat through the glass and PVB before you get to the moisture on the outer layer.
But as I have said many times if it works for you that is great.

I must add for Tooldini I would never leave a drystar on for anything like that lenght of time, was there and PVB left.
When I purchased my Drystar which was from Delta it came with a very simple instruction leaflet, I would suggest to anyone who has not got one or read it that Jeff might let you have a copy. It does say only let it warm to a dull orange not nearly to the point of nuclear fusion LOL.
Mind you like some customers think we melt the glass back together!!!

i only mentioned lighter for those who have not purchased drystar..many tools come out that are a big help in our daily tasks such as drystar...a small price to pay to do a good job..the weather in uk is way different than in nc..i understand it rains a lot and is overcast a lot in uk....in nc we can go a week without rain..and then its overnight and in the morning sun is out and it makes windshield hot quick.. good for me.. i would love to visit england someday!!!

Screenman it was on for about 12-15 secs directions called for 15-20 My problem was that i held the button down the whole time

I was nervous about using it and just forgot. I have it stuck in my head now what to do because I know I will need it soon. The repair looked alright when I was done just a little scare on the cracked section. I was not happy or proud of it but the customer was happy it seemed.
