I agree... but I'm just a cynic I guess. I have tried many brands, and some were better than others, but I've yet to find one that lives up to the hype so to speak.

Obviously I will do the same for anyone that requests samples, just as I think most of our competitors will. All you need to do is call or or send an e-mail to their sales departments.

There is a big difference in resin products, so it pays to do your homework.

I got to see a couple of my old repairs at a dealer the other day, they are probably 6 months old. Well both pit fills were gone. I do the standard procedure that everyone does. I live in Michigan and temps get into the negatives sometimes with snow and lots of rain. These cars are of course outside. I have seen others that don't spent that much time outside and they still look nice. I should assume that it is due to the snow and ice sitting on the pits right? I use glasweld pit filler. When I scrape it comes off in little curly pieces usually and takes quit a few passes to get it down flush with the glass. So it looks to me like weather would be the major factor. If you are in a cold wet place I am pretty sure they won't last long but I could be wrong. I need to try some different pit fillers.

Does your pit filler do this every time or just at times?

I haven't had any customers tell me about it. They probably just don't notice if it is happening. I have seen other old ones that look fine still. I have been using glasweld pit filler. I hoped it was just the weather here.

I've been doing cold weather repairs in Michigan for over 7 years now and the only time I see pit failure is when windshield was pre-treated and hasn't been removed prior to repairing.

Most of the used car dealers apply windshield treatment during normal prep and many of the car washes in Michigan also offer Rain-X as a drive through add on. Sometimes it's difficult to identify if shield has been treated or not (expecially in the winter) The easiest method I've found to determine this is by simply putting a test drop of resin on glass and seeing if it beads up. If it does, you can almost be sure it's been treated and will have to use some type of cleaner prior to repairing.

That is a possibility I don't recall thinking that there was a treatment on the shield but it it possible. I will keep that in mind and maybe also try another pit filler. Thanks for the help
