Long Cracks and Fleets

I would love to tell you Bill but with this forum being monitored as much as it is. Also with people being banned from the forum for opinions that are not in line with Delta Kits I can't say. Delta has a great forum here, and a great wealth of information on it however they don't recommend long crack repair. Its understandable why too. If you want to check out some crack resins you can do a search on the web for Long Crack repair.

One word of warning here. You will find lots of companies advertising long crack repair however 95% of them are worthless. Find someone who has been doing it for a while and has proof that there resin works. Good luck.

Maybe its a climate thing. If it ios very obvious that the cracks right near the edge of the glass is wide I may use some pit fill resin for that area otherwise no problems.

I do no find that long cracks take a long time to do, maybe its my technique but very few repairs once they are dry take more than about 20 minutes start to finish. It can quite often take longer to dry a large starbreak than a nice open crack.

If we listen to most resin suppliers they state that their resin is stronger and the repair also than the surrounding glass. One of the companies over here quote figure of 127% that of the original glass. I think the British Standard should be able to tell us, could someone do a search I am a bit busy at the moment.

...just brainstorming here, maybe a fellow could charge his base chip rate for the first 6" of any crack, discourage the client from more, but if they insist, do an additional at $5 per inch?...

The original post delt with Enterprise Car Rental. As a car rental company, I would expect them to offer customers great looking and clean cars. Not having a repaired cracked windshield would fall into this category.

On the other hand, private companies who maintain vehicle fleets for their own business (i.e., utility companies, etc.) will repair cracks if it saves them the cost of a replacement. I have several companies that will allow me to repair cracks up to 12" (depending on location of crack).
