CRINAMEX is made in Mexico. The glass is branded with the words CRINAMEX. Dealers love them as they are CHEAP. Around $90-150.00. If I were a dealer would I want to install a $380.00 PPG glass in a Ford F250 with SUPERDUTY branded in the 3rd visor area or would I want to pay $125-150 for a CRINAMEX? Crinamex glass is extremely brittle but does have the laminate.

Coming to the States I imported my Fiat Ducato Camper and future cracks or chips won't be a problem, but in case I need a replacement windshield , can I find one here , or will I be up in the s..t c...k ?
Brand : SECURSIV , High Laminated , DOT 36E51 M56 , E 00112 , 43r000487.

I cannot even pull up a Ducato in nags, this is made by fiat? What year? supply the vin number if applicable.

The Fiat Ducato is an Italien made Delivery Van and a German company named Hymer converts them into a RV Motothome in the same style as a small Winnebago Campervan on a Chevy 20 Van frame .

I've a bad feeling that I've to have a windshield shipped in from overseas in case I need replacement , because to my understanding I own the only Fiat Hymer RV Motorhome thats driving around in the whole USA, it's almost the same situation as the TOYOTA 2000 imported from Mexico way back.

So my windshield has successfully been replaced at the cost of the auto glass shop. The guy who came out said the man who replaced it 3 weeks ago did a terrible job. The eurethane was thin, and my dad commented that it was replaced on too cold of day. I have another question though. The mexican-made Crinamex windshield was replaced with another mexican-made windshield made by Pilkington. Is this a better quality windshield than Crinamex? I sure hope so. I know to keep my distance from other vehicles on the highway... but with these mexi-windshields, I'm going to start driving 1/4 mile behind trucks! Thanks again for all of your replies. My dad was able to take the info you guys provided and use it against the company that was refusing to replace my glass, and it worked! :eusa_clap

You mentioned that you understand that a stress crack will show up as a single line crack. Does that mean that in the frit area you are able to detect multiple cracks? If that is the case take a razor blade and run it across the crack on the outside of the windshield to determine if it is on the outside layer of glass if the edge of the razor does not catch on the crack then it may be the the crack is on the inside layer of glass.

Wow a Hymer on a Fiat Duacto chassis, How difficult was that to import? Im would think there would be lots of regulations.

Hardly any.
All it takes is money and a couple of days to run from one official location to the other.
Had to go to the police station to have the VIN number checked that it was not a stolen car , my Temporary Import papers had to be stamped PERMANENT IMPORT, and I had to pay $175.00 import and license duties after I had it inspected for $30.00.
Because it is a Diesel and 20 years old , no emission check .
Forgot, it had to be weighted also $10.00.
All costs together not more than $215.00. Freight was high , they messure the cubic feet and this costs differantly from company to company.
Costed me to have it shipped on a rollon/rollof from Amsterdam-NL. to Jacksonville- FL. $1125.00 , including port fees.
My Pontiac Fiero is far smaller and costed $ 650.00 all/in.
Have not imported it yet, still driving around with my Dutch plates , but insured though , with GEICO for liability only $39.00 a month.
My Hymer cost me liability only $ 42.00/month with Penn Life Ins.
When cars get older than 10 years , no company will handle full coverage, unless you have a classic or antique with an expertise and than it's HIGH.

When any of you is thinking about Im/Export to/from Europe , I can help, have done it many years : sportscars , trucks, boats or motorcycles per High Cube container ( 2 floors , 36 bikes ).
I was cummuting betweem Holland and the USA, therefor I'll take it easier now: repairing chips and cracks !!
