Just ran across this in the last 3 months. The local mobile glass installers are charging $5.00 per w/s install job and no one says a word.So guess what?? So did I and not a peep from my accounts that are mostly W/sale.Dont be afraid to charge it.You deserve it.I think that some techs are embarrased how easy it is to make money and hesitate to be paid for their skills.I do alot
of other things also, Paint touch up /headlights etc and an extra $5.00 a the end of a bill is very small. Its the principle.

I wanted to do the same thing, but since almost all of my work is insurance referrals I am not allowed to do that. So if you are getting insurance referrals that would not be a good idea. I don't think most people would complain about a surcharge like that for a convenient mobile service. For your own customers it would be fine but insurance referral work I would NOT do it.

You really shouldnt have to work that much to make a living at this 80k-100k is real at about 30 hrs a week if you plan your work and work you plan of course it takes a while building up the area

If you can make 100k annually in the WSR industry, putting in 30 hours a week, you are my hero!

I personally, don't have a problem with anybody asking for a gas surcharge on mobile services, as long it's not a insurance network supplied referral.

If it is, you shouldn't even ask or expect it because CSR's have already informed insured that repair is covered free, with no additional cost. If you do try to collect in that case.... just remember it only takes one insured to complain about a gas surcharge to insurance or network and you can bet your sweet butt that you'll be pulled from all or many future referral rotations.

I often get asked by curious cash customers when I'm doing a repair on somebody elses shield what my cost are. My response is...because I'm aready here... I'll give you a $10 discount (which normally is between $45-$49.95) If they want to re-schedule for another date, I'll then tell them $55-$60 and explain why! Most of the time they will let me fix it for them while I'm there to save 10 dollars.

I don't know in which catagory I will be placed , parttime or fulltime.
I work tuesdays through fridays from 1 till 6 PM and saturdays 10 Am 'till 3 PM, total 25 hrs a week, sundays and mondays off.
From the date I started my w/s repair business I averaged 1 cash paying customer a day , don't have any insurance referrals , cold calling or advertising customers neither.
I set shop on part of a huge private owned driveway at a Highway and pay the owner 10% of my invoices.
After I have erected my 3 banners , I start twisting thumbs 'till the first customer drives up.
At a minimum rate of $ 45.00 I fix stars , chips and bullseys , cracks up to 6 inches $ 65.00 , popping a bullseye included.
If..... I would work 50 weeks a year I would gross around 15 K, adding the higher income from the crack repairs.
Hardly enough to raise a family and than some !
Because of the above I fall in the parttime catogory, I love to travel too, therefor don't work 50 weeks a year.
Next month I fly for 2 weeks to Costa Rica to investicate for my relocationing overthere , have to go in person , no Tica w/s repair tech responded on my post.
Because of my pension I'm able to live this way , not depending on the w/s repair income.
This explains that I work to live and not the other way around.
