To me, this idea is wholly impractible, how on earth would they be able to police this?. I assume to be able to use this standard an operator would have to register, to receive their unique code. No doubt this would result in some form of standards test with obligatory payments. Obviously I do not operate in the US but if this becomes law, there is a high risk it will be followed in the UK. I am fully behind a method of producing tracibility, particulary in reference to replacement glass but, in its current draft form, this standard would create more problems than cure.

Im totally against this idea, Its just more work and for what?
Time is money.

If a windshield has 4 repairs by 4 different companies who is going to prove who's repair was the problem, they could all be in the same general area?.

Maybe all four guys would get sued by someone.

yeah... it would never work, imo. I know I wouldn't do it, and who would do anything about it? When "they" catch me not marking the w/s.. what are "they" going to do to me? Are we looking at 30 days in the clink? lol

Seems impossible to enforce but never say it can't and won't happen. It seems clear that the OEM's would be driving this. Nothing else adds up. My question is where does this stop ? Maybe anyone who does and type repair (ie brakes and tires) would be the next targets. As a consumer I can see NO value to this at all.

We had hoped that the voice of reason would appear, and viola it has!!
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.
