We have tried many methods and injector styles on these types of damages and still find that they put too much pressure around the pit area. The benefit of a $40 mityvac and believe me you will find more uses for it is the seal area is well away from the pit. If you do not want to try this method then I propose you just try dropping a small amount of resin into the clean pit and probe it around for a while before you start your normal repair procedure. Many people have problems with this type of repair so you are not alone. I welcome anyone elses opinion on this style of damage. Iwill certainly try out any other methods to see if improvemets can be made.
Good choice on the Delta equipment.

Check out the Wizard Windshield Repair Injector.It has a large cup that will fit over a very large combo break.Because combos are so open a reg.injector will just suck air and will not vacuum at all, with this injector it covers the whole break.The tip is shaped like the tip of a rubber dart that we old kids use to play with.

Thanks everyone for helpful info. It's good to know I'm not the only one who had trouble with these. Souchie, I wasn't familiar with that brand of injector. I found it on line but didn't have a lot of info. Do you use this all the time and feel you get good results? A long time ago I had one of those pit adapter things that widens the area where you can repair. Only used it a handful of times, but it did work. That's usually not the problem with these kind of repairs I described, but is an interesting subject all on its own.

This type of damage just never looks as good as a simple star or bullseye. I had tried dripping some resin first and flexing. I use glasweld injector so I just make sure that I have the injector stem as light on pressure as I can without losing a seal. Run a long vaccuum cycle and pressure then finish with 2 or 3 more shorter cycles. I don't usually flex these anymore once I start with the injector.

I use the large pit adapter on damage of that size. Then too it can be moved around by relaxing the pressure on the "o" ring and sliding the bridge around.
