Shoudnt you be using a temp gun?
I actually got one at Harbor Freight for $10 and it seems to work just fine. There are more expensive ones but unless you need to get the temp exact then I dont see the point in paying alot for one.
Im a newb though so keep that in mind.

I wouldnt use a lighter to evaporate moisture.
Use a drystar. Set it on top of the damaged area .
You should be able to feel with your fingertips when the glass has cooled down again.

I think I found the solution to my problem having "Crack Out's"
I definately needed to take more time when it came to doing my repairs! Since slowing my process down taking alot of DEEP Breaths! My crack out ration had dropped dramatically. I have only had 2 since offering this service and yes that is too many in the time I've offered WSR.
Not to ay that this is your issue. But just thought I'd share my experiance and causes to my Crack Outs in case another is experiancing the same.
I find what is comfortable with me and along with Factory suggestions is what I follow!
