This does beg another question...
If a customer has a long crack that you do not think you can fill all the way and they have told you that they are not going to replace the windshield after you have told them the risks... Should you then terminate the crack for them so that it does not spread? If so, should you charge and how much?

What i meant as demo, to experiment on the windshield.
I feel that the crack has stopped, and wont go any farther. I can keep tabs on this windshield...even thou the 6 inch crack between pops are not filled completely. like I said before..If this was a paying customer..i would not done the work, unless they really wanted it done
So one person said a dis-service to the industry.
Now alot of folks, wont work on cracks over 6 inch, but if a customer ask the the crack to be stopped, so it wont travel any farther...
what do you say "sorry"

Your goal shouldn't be to just "stop the crack" But to also seal the entire opening so that the laminate isn't compromised.

Your goal should always be to fully fix the damage, if you don't think you can do it, then you probably shouldn't do it.
But, if a customer stops by your location and lets say they have a 15" in their windshield, but they just don't have much money to repair the whole thing, but they're looking for someone to just stop the crack from growing. I think at this point you need to make a decision, Fix it or don't fix it? You will need to decide if you want to even take the time to do it either for free or for a small fee, around $5 bucks or most of the time free, just as long as I don't have a customer waiting. I give them a couple cards and tell them to pass them to family and friends.....
Whether it's right or wrong, it's ultimately my decision to make, and I only make it on an individual basis...
Not everyone out there can afford $50 to $80 to fix a crack, so if you give a good deal to someone or help them out every now and again.....it's not a bad thing, some people remember you when you hook them up.

If somebody cannot afford $50 to fix the windshield are they likely to have the money to spend on other safety items, let us all not forget that safety is one of many reasons for having a windshield. In my opinion by not doing a full and proper repair you may be compromising safety, which for me is a big no no. If you charge $5 or $100 you still own the job once you have done it.
