Let me Explain It Real Slow.
Lady came to this board and asked a question rather than say something like "I do it this way give it a try" Or "There are companies out there that will do the billing for you here are a couple" or maybe "Its easy I will send you some info"
Instead of doing something productive and helping someone you chose to start with the ACT sucks crap again Hey you dont like em dont use em pretty simple. There are several out there to choose from they arent the only Firetruck in the Parade
Im sure you can find a million folks out there who will jump up and down and tell you how crappy a Chevy is and about the same amount who will jump up and down and praise them.Personal choice.
The point is that once again someone new came to this board and instead of helping you chose to break out the firehose and run em off. Seriosly do you really think you have helped her with her question? Get a Grip
As far as Act goes I like em and will continue to use them it Works For Me

Chad, I think stihlcarven said he was billing the networks directly, not the insurance companies directly, but if I am not mistaken SGT was billing the insurance companies directly, which is a whole different ball game. I agree with SGT, while technically possible to bill most insurance companies direct, the time and effort involved just is not worth it for most windshield repair technicians. However, as stihlcarven said, getting set up with the networks and billing them directly is pretty simple. I've heard some horror stories, but when we used to recommend eDirectGlass, before they raised their prices, we helped hundreds of technicians get signed up with the major networks and it generally only took a few days. We are still helping Delta Kits customers get signed up with the networks every day and rarely is there a problem.
Is there a need for a service that sends your invoices to the networks via EDI? Obviously GlassStarz and others feel there is a benefit. Like SGT and Glasstime, I too use an EDI provider for my Lynx claims, and only my Lynx claims, although I don't currently use the one either of them use. However, if stihlcarven can show me an easier way, that is also faster and less expensive than the way I am currently processing those claims, that's what I'll do.
I agree with Chad, how you handle your insurance billing is personal preference, but making an educated decision should be the goal here, so I don't see why anyone would not want to get as much information as possible before making this important decision. I think that is what lwoodcox came here looking for, so I'm glad GlassStarz mentioned ACT, I'm glad Chad mentioned the names of a few other billing services, and I'm glad stihlcarven is going to provide instructions for billing the networks direct. lwoodcox will do her homework and hopefully find a solution that is right for her husband's business model.

Now I would like to use the opportunity to just deliver a small message to al those in this big wsr family...shhhhh...wait for it........

I have an even better idea, get the customer to pay you up front and get it back themselves from their insurers. I have done a lot of private/retail work recently and I have not billed an insurance company for a long time. I think if you bother to look further into a customer base, away from Jo Public you will find a lot that do not even have glass cover.

I too like to charge cash. No waiting for deposits to be made. Money goes right in my pocket when the work is done. No hassles. For the ones who do insist, I will bill the insurance co. Would like to learn how to do it myself and save some $$$.

WOW gets wild around here real fast. I only posted for the benefit of the techs that may not understand all the differences in billing. In case I was not very clear....
DIRECT BILLING IS WHEN YOU SUBMIT YOUR INVOICES VIA FAX, EMAIL, SNAIL MAIL, CARRIER PIGEON, PONY EXPRESS OR HAND DELIEVER IT TO THE GLASS CLAIMS DEPT AT THE CUSTOMERS INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE IS NO MIDDLE MAN PERIOD.
I TO HAVE BEEN AROUND THIS GAME FOR A SMALL STINT AND I DO KNOW WHAT I SPEAK OF AND WOULD NOT STEER YOU WRONG. IF MY REPUTION IS NOT ENOUGH TO BACK UP WHAT I SAY THEN TO BAD SO SAD.
WHAT I MENTIONED IS NOT THE FINAL WORD ON DIRECT BILLING.I AM NOT SAYING IT CANT BE DONE. BY ALL MEANS DO WHAT YOU LIKE BUT IT TO HAS ITS HURDLES. I WILL NOT ELABORATE ANYMORE AS I AM NOT INTERESTED IN A DEBATE OVER PERSONEL BILLING PREFERENCE. IF YOU CARE ENOUGH DIG THROUGH THE FORUM FOR MY THOUGHTS.
Thats All Folks!

Hey StihlCarven,
I would like to check out that list you are putting together.
Been out of the biz for a couple of years while I served in the Green Machine (the Army) and got out last month. I am back and just got my Windshield repair liability insurance today so I am ready to bill the networks.
Please post that list.

If the insurance companies are paying more than your normal rate, then i suggest you may be under pricing in most instances.
