Re: After Coat Applicators

I started out with a 2 year limited warranty based on information from this forum. I reduced it to 18 months and now to 1 year. I have vehicles that are now crossing 19 months and still look fine. I had a lot of heat and humidity in my state this year and Iam not sure if that was a factor or not. Having said this, I have only performed a re-do on less than 2% of all the vehicles I did a HLR. The reason I dropped to 1 year is simple. If the maufacture of the headlight only offers a one year warrant for something brand new, why should I risk more out of pocket expense on a warranty for more than that time frame. When I cross 2 years I should have a number of HL's to look at to see what effect the environment has had on them. I see customers using tire cleaners on the body of the vehicles, at local car washes. I feel quite certain this could affect the longivity of our product. I also see detailing shops using a high speed buffer and turtle wax on the same lens I restored several months ago, when the customers have their vehicles waxed. Once that lens returns to a somewhat cloudy state, Iam sure they will be back for their re-do. Thats just my 2 cents on the warranty. Until I pass a two year mark and look at the vehicles I restored, I will stick to the one year. Some customers take care of their vehicles while others do only what is needed to get by.

I realize my reply is a little on the late side but, you had some questions about the "wow" factor. i am going on record to say that the H/L clearcoat from delta kits is by far the best I've seen on the market to date. It can definitely create the wow factor. I am so confident that i offer a 2 year guarantee and a 100% money back guarantee meaning that if the customer is not 100% satisfied with the results when completed they don't pay. No one to date has been able to take advantage of that offer. As far as, spray on quality, Delta clearcoat is better because it not only is 100% clear, it also flows completely smooth which you cannot get with spray equipment unless you are a veteran spray tech but at that, you cannot acheive the flatness which looks part of the lense. You should use the product with confidence, you will only get better as you go forward. CMG........

I dont know what part of the country you are from. Iam reducing my warranty to 6 months. I have three to redo this week that I did 9-12 months ago. I still dont know if it was the extreme heat we had last summer or the use of the wax polish prior to applying the coating.
I just read the articles stating the UV products should not be used after 3 months. Ithought it was 6 months. That could be something to consider. When those HL were finished they looked like new. I still have lights that I did 20 months ago that look great. I have less than a 8% redo rate. To me that is high. Iam starting to tell customers they should have the lens redone yearly. When I look at the lens on those I've had to redo I see sploches. It looks like something had splashed on the lens and the coating peeled away in spots. I no longer use the wax on the lens. I also have a volvo to do over that looks like streaks or buffer marks on the lens, that I did in Feb 2010 and is completely cloudy. He swears no one touched the lens. Is anyone else having this problem on the east coast. I found one other person that has seen similar sploches that also used the polish. The majority of the redos original HLR coats lasted 8-14 months with the wax polish. Some were done between 40 to 60 degrees and driven within a hour of completion. I am waiting to see how long the no wax HLR holds up. My new direction will be as followed. 6 month warranty; No wax, temp above 50, no driving first hour. no washing first 24 hours after completion. Recommend redo every 12 months at a 10% discount. Does anyone know how many times we can do a HLR on the same vehicle without sanding through the lens?

I do not offer a true "Warranty". I tell my customers in most cases the restoration should last about 12 months. There are too many things that can happen to the lenses to offer a true rework warranty in my opinion.
