It was not a matter of ''naming/shaming''. I just noticed the picture.
If it is a press-photo, it all makes sense. Don't bother with it. BTW: we were off topic anyhow.

In my area there is a chain that operates under multiple names at car washes, gas stations and sometimes at large sporting events. The technicians have almost no training, the ones I spoke with had never heard of pit resin and did not know that you need to cover a repair to keep uv rays out. They make most of their money on insurance jobs that are really just small pit fills. If they can find any blemish on your windshield they will scare customers into getting even the tiniest damage repaired. I've told them that this is unethical and borderline fraud but they continue on with the routine.

Bad repairs.

I know this is not what you mean, but what a scam!

I offer free re-repairs, even of my competitor's work. It is frustrating to get paid for one chip, and then have to drill out 5 leg tips from the repair done by some hack a year ago... fill them etc.... in the end it looks worse than before, but most folks become lifelong loyal clients after doing this. Sometimes my repairs are not perfect, but they are always strong. It bugs me when hacks consistently do terrible work...

Question:
What is wrong about this picture?
-no UV blocker
-tray with tools etc on the vehicle, exposed to elements,
-a rag (cloth) on the hood (rag may contain resin and sits on the cars' finish)

This was a newspaper photo for an ad, so I had my working bridge exposed to the sun (I actually use a blue surgical towel as I don't like using the dome), the red thing the tool tray is sitting on is a rubber mat... but I don't get the elements problem? Sun on Dremmel tool a problem? Resin bottles all block UV... not sure which tools can't be exposed? I think I might learn something new!

Shepard... It sounds like your business ethics are upright and honest. If I were a customer in the industry, I would want someone like you to have my business. By the way.. photo looks great. Thanks for sharing!

Here the Austin area there is a company that I'd hiring anyone and everyone to sit at gas stations.

They will go to a gas station for a few days and then go to another one for a few days and so on.

They will hang out and when someone pulls up for gas, they approach them and ask if they can clean thier windshield, once finished with cleaning, they point out that they can repair the chips in auto owners vehicle for FREE!

So far it's not that bad a thing, but what I feel is bad, they convince the customer to do a 3 chip repair almost EVERY TIME, and most of the time these are the tiny little surface Chips!

They're taking advantage of the Customer. Now, if the customer gets a REAL damage in the windshield and they think they can just call in and get it covered, they're screwed until their policy renews!

I think it's BS and I get angry because they're literally flooding the area with these people that are trained in a day doing snooty repairs!

I would mention the name of this company, but it's pointless.
