Sorry, Dave. I just got back to the forum and will reply to your question.

KISS means "keep it simple, stupid".

The less complicated one gets when explaining a service (in this case), the more success one will have when selling the service. Most people have a short attention span and aren't interested in details.

"Sir. I see your windshield's cracked. If you don't get it fixed, your insurance is going to go up".

"Whacha mean my insurance is going to go up?"

You got his attention. He's ready to listen and more.

He's asking questions and that's precisely what you want.

Never over-estimate the intelligence of the prospect; but, sure as hell don't insult their intelligence. Balance the two.

Let the prospect ask complicated questions and then answer them instead of impressing and probably boring him with your expertise right from the start.

Consequently: KISS.

Call it rock-chip repair, call it chip-rock repair, call it what you want.

I call it windshield repair.

KISS.

The Peter Principle is a well-recognized and valid concept in business circles concerning promotions.

That theory posits that people are promoted until they reach their level of incompetence at which point (unless they are the owner's son) they languish in a position they were't qualified for in the first place and their lack of successful performance is singularly noticeable.

After awhile.

Then, instead of being returned to the job they were performing so well and given the same pay they presently receive, they are either fired or given a golden parachute.

And, the fast-track promotions start all over again.

Hope that explains.
