How do you make that out, customers think they are getting something for nothing, in reality they are paying for years down the road. Take glass cover away from insurance and you guys will get busier.

What would say if you were refused insurance because of incorrect information on an insurance database said you were high risk?

Screenman, I rather doubt that taking away insurance covered repairs will make me busier. It's around 60% of my total business and people here in the US use it because many don't have the extra money to dish out in their pockets. So I hope it continues and I encourage people to use it, They are damn sure paying for it in their premium costs. Been at this a long time and have never had a customer get a rate increase or coverage denial for having their windshield repaired.

Go back and read the original post, the point where it says maybe not relevant to people worldwide.

60% of business from insurers, we used to have guys here doing about that, they are now on 10% things change thanks to a large glass company that may have invaded your shores. As the song goes, times they are a changing. I have never done much in the way of insurance, preferring 3 or more jobs at each stop as opposed to 1, takes a little selling but this is after all a sales industry we are in.

When there is no glass insurance people will look harder at preventative maintenance, if they had to pay for a windshield in full.

In the state I live in there is no longer a vehicle inspection law. People are not required by law to replace their cracked windshield. So many of the people who have no insurance coverage would simply choose to ignore the chip and do nothing. Times are tough. Money is tight, And I make more doing insurance work and conventional customer work than I did when I was concentrating on dealer and fleet business. Most of those guys want dirt cheap fleet rates and I decided to quit giving away my valuable time and effort. So for now I happen to like the fact that most insurance companies cover it.....and apparently so do my customers!

Different zones I suppose but my customers seem to want quality over price, both in product and service, I also charge more than the insurance companies pay out, plus as I said before the benefits of doing maybe 3 windshields at the same time.

The main thing is having fun and earning a good living, no matter which way you do it if you have mastered those two then that is good.
