That canopy is pretty cool. I have drawn up designs for a homemade version for my van, but never made one. I didn't know they actually existed. That one extends farther out than what I was going to try. Cool.

What I have been using instead is just a portable custom umbrella. It's a large umbrella that has an adjustable strong suction cup base. It can be mounted on the windshield or side glass or even the hood if nobody cares. It's enough shade to cover much of the windshield and myself too. It's great in the heat of summer.

I think it is a Sunsetter awning, this is someone I know in Alabama who paints out of that van. Go to Ebay and type " awning " in the search box, you will see just about everything possible for shade. I know another guy here that has a simular setup and his is good to around a 20 mph wind speed.
