I dry my chips with a drystar as a rule. The exception being starbreaks or chips that extend way beyond the diameter of the element part of the drystar, for which i use a gas blower. I start on the outside of the chip and work in a circular motion pushing the moisture towards the centre. I train my guys to do the same.
It amazes me the number of people that I come across in the UK who dont dry out their chips prior to repair, in particular the national replacement companies. The amount of chips that we are asked to repair by customers who have already had them repaired by the nationals backs this up.
As a rule I dry out everything, however big, small, tight or open. Better results that will last.
