It's pretty much been nailed already...

I would just mention that it sounds like a problem of not being cured. It takes a real hack job to butcher a fully cured pit, no matter your scraping methods, IMO.

Check your UV lamp batteries/power supply, or see if the sun in your area needs fresh Duracells. :)

Four minutes in sunlight may not be enough in late afternoon or overcast sky etc...

BTW, some pit resins scrape kinda tough.. they are more chewy instead of crispy

(like in the delta instruction video)
In the instruction video, it only says to scrape at a 90, never at a 45.

You only need a drop or two of pit resin, and sometimes it can take forever to scrape if you get carried away with it. Again, it will make an awful noise. Scrape with long strokes, never changing directions while the blade is over the pit. You will want to scrape from different angles (up to down, then left to right, that sort of thing), but make sure you do not switch directions while your blade is right over the pit.

If you're still having trouble, I suggest calling us for tech support.

yeah I didnt hear the video "say" to scrape at 45 but I did see the guy do it at first just around the edges then he swched to 90 angle to finish it off. these suggestions sound great. Ill try those today. another problem I have been having on sunny days is the pit resin is curing before i can even get done getting the air bubbles out with my scribe! it starts gumming up and look terrible. i usually have to scrape it off and try again. I have been getting better about trying to position my head over the hole for shade before dripping the resin on. One time it even cured on the tip of the bottle cause I was holing it out in the sun without the top on trying to get the bubble out of my pit! the man that sun is potent! I might try making one of those sun shades that stick on the glass.

:D :D

Yeah, wearing a baseball cap or having a large noggin helps. You do have to shade the pit resin until you can get a tab on it. We have all had the resin turn to buggers, and have to wipe it away...

As for the shade things, I can get you a really nice one...

An AWFUL NOISE!!! That's the sound of money. Music to my ears. When I'm on a dealer's lot and someone say's How can you stand that noise. My pat response is "what are you hearing, all I can hear is money". That "awful noise" is also very handy in getting your wife off the phone with you if you are busy doing repairs or making small talk with a customer.
