My tip always return phone calls and be reliable at all times, you will be suprised at how many people in this trade do niether. Work out exactly how much you want or need to earn each week these are often different amounts and keep a day planner to make sure you are on target this is a motivational tool which I have talked about in previous posts.
Go for it full time and keep focused on your aims do not undersell and lower prices this only devalues our skills.

Keep smiling it might make you look stupid but it makes you and others feel better.

Make your customers look foreward to your next visit.

Ask your customers what they want this applies more to fleet etc. I had a large fleet customr who when I asked him what more I could do for him he asked me to call in 3 times a week instead of once because ther were vehicles coming in and out all the time and I was missing some by not going enough. This more than trebled the amount of work I was doing for them it is an account I have had for 16 years.
