Hey just wondering, it's been 5 months or so since Ben's formula was made public here, aka mineral spirits and Urethane spar varnish. Just wondering how jobs are holding up that people have done? Also I read Ben had a job or two that he felt the WD-40 for a lubricant in sanding might've caused a problem. Anybody else having problems with that? I've got a Metabo. Anybody else with a Metabo use WD-40? Does it gum up the disc, or because you don't use much it doesn't?? Thanks.

Same here no problems. I do not use WD, I use a water/soap combination for sanding.

Just an update on what I do.I use the bootleg Yellow-X formula and scrub w/grey scotch pad and rinse.I have air for painting so I use a 3" Snap-on D/A sander w-interface pad.For most I just sand w-600 and then attach 1200 and squirt last pass w water bottle for the wet sand finish .I wipe lens clean w/ rubbing alcohol and blue Scotch Shop paper towel.I mix my sealer -and apply with folded edge of 1/2 towel and get paid .....!! If the lens is really toast I have started as course as 220 and worked up until I had proper lens finish. But rare to have to do it.

Ben, so you're saying you're back to using 3 parts wesley bleach white with 1 part mean green for the cleaner? Do you pre-mix that and let sit in a container or only mix when you're getting ready to use each time?

Hey Ben, will ya take a look at this chart and tell me if you think Castrol Super Clean and Mean Green are close to the same. http://www.simplegreen.com.sg/img/PDF-comparechart.pdf

I already know Purple Power is pretty much the same as Super Clean and you can get both those products in volume for a real nice price at Walmart, especially the Purple Power. What do ya think?

I would think that any of the good cleaners that are water based and are degreasers would work.I also like the Purple Power but reduce it by 40-50% with water as the stuff will etch paint.LOL.
