Have you considered NOVUS? It is a franchise operation but they seem to have the best equipment and best resins bar none.

I have checked Novusglass's website. They claim they invented windshield repair, is that true?
Novus is great if you are looking to franchise. I am not looking to do that, in my opinion there is no need to franchise in this line of work, a tool and a smile makes for a good living in this industry. I don't see any product info on their website ( http://www.novusglass.com ) which leads me to believe you have to invest the $37000 some odd dollars to even be eligable to use/purchase their equipment.

No they did not "invent" wsr, as I understand. But they were the first to market the service. They got it from 3M and ran with it...

There is some wsr history on nwra's website.

Crackhead,

NOVUS has the best equipment and resins? I don't believe that is true. I use the best equipment and resins and they are not from NOVUS.

Novus glass...Yes at least $37.000 plus a nice percentage for royalties, I wonder how these Novus franchisee's make it with so many other WSR guys out there...

Ive seen Novus guys, they dont do anything different to us, and I dont think their resins or device's are better, If you think Novus does better repairs then maybe you are using the wrong device and resins...

I thought a Dr in Wyoming invented windshield repair...

Back in the dark ages of Auto Glass (58-64) the acceped method of wsr was to lay the glass flat on a bench, put dam(circle) around the bull's eye(butyl tape or the old 3M string sealer) fill with light oil(3-in-one) and heat the inside of the glass with a match. This did actually work but I can't say how long it lasted. Shops used to do this to resell the w/s's to those that couldn't afford new ones.

as recently as 5 years ago I started doing work at a DOT shop that had still been doing the same type of "repairs" using transmission fluid.

Ctannehill,

Just my strange way of making a point! If you have your own windshield repair business (no matter how many years) in your mind you have the best equipment and resins.
I believe the archives contain a thread on different resins and equipment that some members use.
I have always used Glass Technology resins and equipment. Are they the best? For me, yes. Ask someone who has used Delta or Glass Mechanix or Liquid Resins or Glas Weld or that other CA company or whichever company they use and I'd bet you would get the same response.
