The point is why let it bug you? move on to the next customer and if $50 is a lot of $ to you so be it thats your problem and maybe its because you let stuff bother you a negative outlook breeds failure. Its all important to maintain an up attitude if you want to be a salesman and screwing yourself into the dirt because someone didnt pay or for any other reason for that matter is counter productive. Generally if someone doesnt pay its because you didnt sell it right in the first place and the circle continues. Is $50 really worth the hassle ?

Now me and GlassStarz do not often agree but on this one I am 100% with him. Treat this as a lesson in life and most lessons we have to pay for one way or another. Get it out of your head and get on $50 is not a lot compared with the $400 a day you should be earning by now, assuming you have been in the trade for about 6 months or more. It actually took me 6 weeks before I had a turnover in excess of
33,000 + screen repairs over 18 years and still learning.

I just say its a refund. :) Ok Id explane that it is a good repair, and the advantages of repair over the replacement option. Also remind her of what was offered... THIS IS A REPAIR!. ID then mention that I will file a mechanical lean against the vehicle for a non payment ( I dont know if you can do that in the USA). At this point your never going to get a referal from her anyway, so personaly, Id have fun with it and just stress her out abit. I just wouldnt want her to walk away with that great feeling of knowing she just screwed you and got something for free.

I had this happen to me some years ago. I did a long crack repair and it turned out near perfect, but the customer had to see a flaw in it. Refused to pay. I said OK how about if I put the crack back in, He said OK.
I got on the inside of the car where the crack was and no amount of pushing from either side would budge that repair. Oh rockchip failure, where are you when I need you. I really didn't have anything heavy emough to damage his windshield so I loaded up and left.
In your career you will get a few #&((^!) like this but try not to let it ruin your day. I only had two like this.

If I done a windscreen repair for a customer and they decided they was not happy with it despite me explaining the fact it may only be 90% improved, I would not bother giving ANY attitude, I would just say ok no problem and leave a new biz card and load up and go,

Ok I might curse to myself a bit after but that would be it, Some may say this is stupid, but what is more stupid is annoying new customers, :eusa_naug they will tell thier friends about you and that could lose you business when you need it.

I would worry if this was becomming a regular problem with customers not paying for my repairs.

I am a perfectionist and I have NEVER had a non paying customer on any of my repairs. If I am not 100% happy with my repair I either put it right or do not invoice!

It is very important not to worry about little things like this and I know $50 is $50, but to me its just 1 repair,

Im off to my next job!

That was around 9-10 years ago and I really can't remember whos resin I was using. May have been Opticleer, I used to use a lot of his resins.
The flaw I had was any crack you repair, no matter how good, you will see a faint line when you walk around it and thats what this jerk did. Yes, I always undersell my work and show my written disclaimer on my invoices that ANY repair may be sllightly visable due to crack patterns, age, etc.

Still some expect a miracle.

just say something like this...

"Well, actually this repair came out very very good. I will try to re-work it and see if I can make it better. But, sometimes it can get messed up trying to re-do it. "

Make it clear that you are going to go back to work on it since she is not happy, but that odds are it will make it worse.

That way they see you called their bluff and they better just pay up... no free lunch that day. If they let you re-work it.... then it will suck and they get what they paid for. Nothing. They probably will wish they had just paid you and they won't have the satisfaction of screwing you over.

I don't really care about a customer like that neing pissed.... people who know them probably hear them bitch about everything anyway.... so add me to the list... won't hurt my biz.

yep... the same nice repair can get two completely different reactions.

"but I can still see it...... I thought it would be gone" :(

"wow!!! that's awesome... it's gone!!" :)
