safelite will book jobs a week out just to keep the job. ive been in sgc for 3 months now and only recieved 2 jobs from natoinwide. one was due to that safelite didnt reach the customer when said.
99% of my jobs come from lynx allstate. a few aig and met life
i would love to find out how to increase the other insurance companys to be a prefeered shop. i know thats what i need to do to come up on the rotation more.

GlassStarz;20094 wrote:why would a company give the competition buisness? when you go to a store do the send you across the street to buy from their competitor? safelite is a company that does replacement and repair they have a contract with some insurance companies to do their buisness I dont understand why people keep writing here all upset that safelite wont send them referalls DUH!
find your own work and they will have to pay you for the stuff you drum up from the clients that use SGC
Think about it when a customer calls you do you send them elsewhere when its something you do for a living?
Yep,I call it stepping over $$dollars to chase stray nickles JMO

Everybody listen up!!We all know safelite is a P.I.T.A,so here is what I do.Every time I go to do a repair and it is non repairable I tell the customer when you get it replaced just be sure it is not a Safelite Windshield. Also I know a lot of people call and say they need a windshield for a whatever and we say we repair and not replace. At this point tell the customer that whoever they call for the replacement just be sure they don't use safelite glass, tell them it is cheap and wiil not repair as well as a better quality windshield.

Yes, Safelite is a pain and we've all dealt with their steering tactics but I still get plenty of referals, so I'll take what I get and not worry about the rest!

I was doing a repair for a former co-worker yesterday and the safelite operator told the policy holder that if they use my shop instead of safelite the repair may not be warranted if it breaks out in the future. Funny think is, I am a member of SGC Network. Luckily, I have done business with this client before and they know what to expect.

I have to give Safelite credit for one thing. They have nego. much higher prices from their insurance carriers. I have done two SGC jobs this week and will be paid $65 for one and $63 for the other. They have a vested interest in getting insurance companies to pay more for repairs.(I don't know about replacements)

Here is the problem with Lynks and other networks, they don't care whether or not we get paid more money. They receive their commission for handling the dispatch and can care less whether we get $25 or $50 for our service.

So my question is how do we get Lynks and other neutral networks to nego. higher prices? Is this a job for the NWRA? Is their another organization out their fighting for our best interest? What is the NWRA acctually doing for the technician? (This is not meant to bash or say NWRA is doing nothing)

Reguardless, what's your opinion on how we can get representation with the networks to resolve all these issues. We need a voice! Any ideas?

Nice post Robin Hood...things will never change because there is no voice among repair techs..every time a new person gets into wr they sign up with the networks and that gives the networks a large pool to pull from..its the repair only techs who truly care about getting the job done..the biggest problem is replacement shops are given repairs and they don't care and end up replacing ws..all networks care about is they have given out the job..they don't care how it turns out and don't monitor repairs to see if they are billed for fake repairs..if repair only techs would get first preferance.. replacements would go way down and ins co would see a big savings ...WE HAVE NO VOICE!!!!!!!!!..we are not unified..we are thousands of techs in our own little world trying to survive...:icon_roll

I only do repairs. I refuse to do business with Lynx because I have not been able to sign up for their online invoice system and when I fax invoices (at $9) they ALWAYS return them for some reason. When I add in 30 minutes of administrative time to get the claim filed... it just isn't worth it.

Safelite has been a pleasure to work with... I guess we all have different experiences!

I see it this way....both Lynx and Safelite send me referals that I wouldn't otherwise get. They account for about 50% of my business. So is it worth it?
A rocket scientist I'm not but this one's easy to figure out!
