Flyers/circulars, business cards I have passed out hundreds on damaged windshields and have had almost zero calls. It just don't work.
The best method is face to face and it is hard for a prospect to say "NO" especially when they find out they can get it free through insurance.
My biggest disappointment is getting through to the elderly.
They have been scamed so much they have become paranoid.
I think thats a shame too.

Jerry, the majority of my customers are the elderly. They seem to know the value of repair vs. replacement and they're more knowledgeable of the insurance routine. Many drive up with their insurance card in hand. Younger people just don't seem to care if their W/S is damaged and they usually don't have the money (beer comes first around here). They also drive older cars/trucks and carry liability only.

This is interesting how people from different areas think. I guess the elderly here have been fleeced so many times they are paranoid of anything.
I also read here where some glass repairmen have good dealings with fleets, car dealers new and used etc.
(The used car dealers here won't spend a dime on their cars as long as it will make it around the block without falling apart.)
Here you have these fly by nighters doing chips for $10.00 and there is no shortage of them.
This is what school barns, city fleets, county vehicles expect me to do them for. It can't be done for that if you expect to stay in business.

I get to pass out flyers with bussness cards along with it and i get like only one out of maybe 50 asking for a wsr. Out of this one, i could only hope that i get more repairs through referals. I have got to agree that the best way to sell is face to face.

Coitster, mine flyer is very simple, in black and white printed on A4 paper. The wsr industry here unlike yours is very young and many are becoming aware of wsr here by mainly of referals and through flyers which i find the best medium to reach prospects. My flyer was designed through this forum.
Here goes minus the logo and business card normally attached with it.
("Hi there. I really would appreciate it if I could have a few moments of your time to let you about the kind of service that we offer.
I repair chips in windshields, thus improving both the look and the safety of your vehicle. Windshield repair is a permanent process which removes air from the break and fills it with curable, optical matched resin. The process bonds the glass, restores sttrenght to the windshield, improves the breaks appearance and prevents it from spreading.
It is no longer necessary to replace the windshield since we can now repair them, structurally and optically. This process leaves the original factory seal undisturbed. This eliminates the risks of leakage and stress breaks that often comes with a poor replacement of the the entire windshield.
We really can't say if a chip will crack out tommorow, next month or whenever, but i can tell you that for all the crack out windshields you see around us, that everyone of them started out as a chip that could have been repaired or saved.
I am a mobile service, which means that i could do your repairs at your home, office or where it may suuit you best. Your windshield is an intergral part of your cars safety system. It is meant to assist air bag retention and provide structural support in the case of a roll over accident or a head collision. It usually takes about half an hour for repairs and your windshield will be restored to factory safety levels.
What can you expect? Well normally, you will get a repair that is 80% to 95% better looking than before the repair. In all cases, i offer a gurantee that the repaired area will not crack out, spread or discolour for as long as you own your car.
Should a repair interest you, please give me a call so that we can set up a time that would be convient for you to have one done.
Thank you for your time and interest.")
Hope that this helps.
