Scott,

I had not intended to post to this thread any more, but since you asked...

I initially felt the same way when I read SGT's post, however I happen to know Brian personally and I am quite sure that he did not mean to offend you, me, or anyone else. I think he was just vocalizing his opinion, which although contrary to mine on this issue, is still welcome. Brian and I are both very matter of fact so sometimes when we post something it comes off as being confrontational. It is unintentional I can assure you.

As for your post, do I detect a hint of sarcasm? I think your post will likely offend some just as mine and Brian's apparently did. I'm sure that was unintentional as well, so I hope we can all move on.

In response to Glassdoc's post, Delta Kits has never tried to convince people that they will make $100,000 per year repairing windshields, disagreeing with me or anyone else on the forum is not a forum no-no, and we don't charge a dime for training, but we do promote it heavily. We also offer a money back guarantee if the customer is not completely satisfied, and we never use high pressure sales tactics to sell a windshield repair system. As for making training mandatory, get the rest of the industry to go for that and count me in. However, until that happens I feel I would be doing a disservice to my customers to allow them to buy what I believe to be an inferior product simply because they don't feel they need hands on training. I did receive hands on training, but not until a few months after I started my windshield repair business. The other point to consider is that not all training is equal. Who trains the trainer? Many trainers are self taught. That's not always a bad thing, but I have found that the hardest people to train are the ones that were trained improperly to begin with, and are now self proclaimed experts. I guess we are all self proclaimed experts though aren't we?

I don't think Glassdoc's comments were necessarily directed at me or Delta Kits, and I don't take offense to them, but I think it is important to clarify the points above so no one gets the wrong idea. I am not trying to lure people into windshield repair with false claims and I don't believe that was Scott's intention when he started this thread. In fact, when asked how much they can make in the windshield repair business, I simply tell customers that is up to them, and how hard they are willing to work. On that I think Glassdoc and I agree.

Obviously some people feel this has been a valid thread and others do not. Hopefully we can simply agree to disagree and get back on topic.

Maybe Screenman's post will bring the original subject back into focus.
