Yes you do get to stand on the podium as you are accepting your $1000 check. You also get a tons of free publicity that would otherwise cost you thousands.

Just curious where the tons of publicity come from that would directly benefit my business? How would it reach MY customers? Now the check for $1,000 while in Vegas might make the trip worthwhile! lol

What national network or publication that reaches ANY of our customers will be reporting this event and out come?? I would bet $$$$$$ that not one of the techs customers would ever know the out come or could even care.So where is the value of the advertising ?? What advertising.Non event ,no news no advertising. Now a Legend in your own mind??? well maybe LOL

I can see it now"yo bud ,,just put away the pic of yourself with that cheesy trophy and fix my glass OK ?" For that matter anyone of us could claim to be "The Best In the World" and no one would ever question it ...............because NO ONE would even care!!!!!

Kind of like lawn mower racing ...any one know who the world champion is ?? Wheres his endorsement deal LOL

My thoughts exactly, hb. The general public would never hear about it and wouldn't care. And what good is advertising and promotion if it doesn't reach or impact your customer base - ZERO! The event only serves the purpose of stroking the ego of the guy who wants to believe he is the best at wsr! So what? Is he really the best? Probably not. Only the best among the others who entered.

Oh, and my endorsement deal as champion is from Big Louie's Bar-b-que and Drive Thru Liquor Store in Wala Wala, Washington. I've got their logo right on the side of my high performance Murray mower.

I have politely asked you guys to be respectful of others here, but you insist on making fun of something you know nothing about.

You have made it very clear that you see no value in the Windshield Repair Olympics, and that is fine, but just because you don't understand the advertising value that comes with receiving an award for the industry you are in does not give you the right to disrespect others.

Personally I found a great deal of advertising value in being the first NGA certified Master Auto Glass Technician in my area. Having credentials and awards to add to your resume may not mean anything to your customers, but it always did to mine.

As for the publications that you get recognized in not being read by any of your customers, I guess that means you don't do repairs for any insurance companies, and have absolutely no understanding of how many opportunities can come your way by being recognized by others in your industry. You can bury your head in the sand and pretend that this industry will never be regulated, but it is quite possible that having the proper credentials may one day be the only way to get insurance jobs or obtain state licensing. Those who take the necessary steps to be ready for a change like that will be way ahead of those that don't if/when these changes come about.

I'm tired of wasting my time fielding complaints about you guys being so negative about a profession that many feel quite passionate about. You are welcome to your opinion, but you've carried this way too far. This thread is closed.
