Hoakey doodles guys..that nano stuff is gonna end up costing me about $150 canadian by the time the stuff is shipped to my door and the taxes are payed. There has got to be a more cost effective long lasting clear to put on these headlights that lasts better than just polish/wax.I feel that it is important to offer a UV clearcoat on these headlights to look more professional and justify charging a proper price for the work performed.Remember we are doing this for a living so we have to offer something better than Joe Blow with the rag and some buffing compound. However price must be an important consideration as this is a labor intensive service.Lets just keep this subject current on the board here and I am sure 1 of these 1000 members should eventually chime in with the perfect product.

toab..i have a small bottle they send in a kit for 50.00..application is by paper towell..just 1 spray..wipe on ..second spray.go over to make sure all is covered..i would think such small amounts would stretch out the 3.4 ounce bottle to do well over 150 headlights which would make cost about 1.00 per light.. not bad if you do some retail and get 80.00 to 120.00 per set..bye the way they emphasize just a little stray..it doesnt take but a little

Dan V,

Please clarify your post, you first stated that you don't do headlight repair but then offered technical information to suggest you have! Which is it?

I don't offer Headlamp restoration yet. I just tryed by myself on one of my trucks. I polish it with 1000 wet sandpaper and finish it with 3M compound (for car) and it did a great job. I didn't coat it after. I'm I better to? What can happen if not?

I'm sorry Dan V, but there's a complete process involved with headlight restoration. (something you need to research on your own) Wet sanding is one part of that process but not the finished part of it.

Yes, you'll need to apply some type of recoating! What company you decide to buy from or use is totally up to you! I personally use ISP products for polishing and have always acquired great results!

danv..1000 grit won't get rid of damaged film..just masks it..within a few months it will turn bad again...the holy grail of h/l rest is a coating that will keep h/l clear for a very long time

How long will a Nanotech coating last ?? some of the water based coatings say reapply every 2/3 months.I do them without a coating in the Southern sun and have better results than that. How long would the Dvelp or IPS or Nanotech coatings last.Used car units are not the problem.I do plenty and never see them again after a few weeks., but would like a lasting coating for retail customers. The margin will more than justify the price for a top quality coating.I do not need a new kit to just get a top coat supplier(IPS ect)supplier.Just want the top coat.I think the answer would finish this thread.

Ben... nanotech and ips say it will last up to 2yrs....you cant buy ips unless you go to fla..so that leaves nanotec and their adress is a few posts back...and as far as ending this post there is a wealth of knowledge and info from all the techs that post here whether w/s or h/l and i am loving it...the day we stop searching or changing or learning is the day we fall behind:D
