This time of year the Car Wash buisness is dead so i resort to Cold Calling I work the little strip malls or small offices find 10 vehicles that i can find the owner I will close at least 4 and work a 3 hr day I usualy service a commercial client along the way if I can

Awesome to here. I think applying several different techniques to land work is definitely the way to go.

Yeh its to the point that i probably wont go back to working a stationary spot like a car wash until the snow flys. I would like to get my kill ratio up a little I wonder if a nice lettered vehicle would help? I currently use a professional looking flyer and some nice company shirts but maybe a vehicle in the parking lot would help?
I did have a small burp the other day went to a small buisness center (DRS offices) walking the cars when the cop someone called because some suspicios guy was looking at the cars (hey thats me!) kinda funny the cop was a friend of my dad so no biggie but if i had a company vehicle it would have been more apparent what I was up to.

People are kinda jumpy here right now we have a couple missing girls in recent months with a rural area of only about 30,000 people so anything suspicios gets a phone call to the cops

Exactly the reason I always wear a company shirt! ( see post moved to Water Cooler). I nearly got my Butt Whupped last time I didn't 'cause they thought I was breaking into cars

I have embroidery shirts that look professional and have only had a couple people come out and ask what I was up too. I put money in my pocket after talking to them. But I think anything we can do to convey the look of a PRO (if they only knew lololol) helps. My shirts cost me 16.50 each + shipping. No set up fee and I have my logo on the left my name on the right, I only purchased 6 and have three-different color shirts. I have been thinking a custom hat would be great, but not spent the money yet.
I also keep a notebook with me so I can track the cars with breaks. If ever asked I can show dates and cars from prior days to let them know I am legit.

Yeah, Since I started wearing my golf shifts and tees with my company names on them, I have not gotten challenged or had the dogs sicked on me!! It also helps to have your company vehicle with either magnetic signs or decales. This makes everything look more professional and on the up and up and does wonders for new business.
