I was looking at a windshield repair website recently, and it said that insurance companies will pay for a windshield repair even if their customer doesn't have comprehensive insurance coverage. Is this true? If a customer is only paying their insurance company for liability coverage, why would they be willing to pay for a repair? Could this be true for certain companies and/or states??
Will insurance pay without comprehensive?

I've never heard on an insurance company doing that. I suppose it's possible, but it seems highly unlikely.

The website said that even without "comprehensive", insurance companies will pay for repair.

I'd never heard anything like this, but it would sure be nice if they did! I know when I had Farmer's insurance, I paid an extra premium for "glass buy-back" protection. But I had full coverage with a higher deductible, but the "glass buy-back" took care of repairs for free and new windshield for only $100 deductible.

What I have found amazing is that I have had customers that carry comprehensive insurance with high deductibles (printed on their ins. card) of $500. and $1000. and their insurance company still waived the deductible for repair

I don't know if the company has an across the board policy of waiving repair deductibles regardless of the amount or what but it sure makes it a no-brainer for the customer.
